Things are changing Max, things are changing

It has been a while since I have written. I suppose life gets in the way.  I'm feeling a bit melencholy today, hence the title of my post.  Points to anyone who can name the movie that line came from.  It is graduation time around here. My great niece had a graduation party a couple of weeks ago and today, I attended the party of my daughter's boyfriend.  She will be a junior in the fall.  Her boyfriend will be leaving this week to serve in the US Army.  Big changes for them both.  It is a lot to handle. My heart goes out to them both.  Changes.

Tragedy has struck my best friend. An unacceptable death has occured in her family. Changes. Senseless changes.  My prayers and my love go to her and her family.

Another friend is experiencing the joy of being a new father.  I look forward to his photos and funny stories of his little one.  I think about the joys and frustrations that he has yet to discover. It makes me smile.  And yet, there are changes, lots of changes to come.

It is June. The beginning of summer. The beginning of fireflies, campfires and s'mores.  I will be another year older this month. Changes.  Forgive me if this post is a bit fragmented.  It has been too long since I have written. My thoughts are everywhere.  They are ever changing.  To end on a light note...Does anyone have a s'more to spare??

Butterfingers - A funny story

Good afternoon everybody!  I just reread my first 2 blogs.  They were full of grammatical errors!  Oops...Plus, the English Professor/Master Chef I live with pointed out a few.   She is known to the rest of the world as Haley.  I guess I need a proofreader..Anyway......

About a month ago, I found a recipe for Butterfinger cake on Pinterest.  It sounded good, so I printed it out.  Butterfinger is Damon's favorite candy bar so I thought I would try the cake for him.  It's funny that I didn't think of the story I'm about to tell you right away.  It came to me Monday night. It is one of those things that could only happen to me!

About 20 years ago, I was out for the evening with my dear friend Cynthia. It was a late chilly fall evening.  As we were driving  home, we decided to stop to get something to eat at Hardee's.  Anybody remember Hardee's?? That was probably our first mistake...  I forget what I ate, but I do remember the butterfinger milkshake.  That was my second mistake...(and the biggest) Hey, it sounded good at the time.  We ate and hit the road for home.  Me with my milkshake in tow.

There was a popular risque' song on the radio back then....It went something like "One, Two, something something,  Three, Four, on the floor, and so on....I bet my friend Jeff could find out what it was called.  It was playing,C was laughing,. I was laughing, choking, laughing.  It wasn't pretty.  Needless to say, they butterfinger milkshake did not stay down.  Oh, how I wish it had.  Cynthia made me put the car window down all the way home.  I'm sorry again C!  Thank God for our good friend Jamie who cleaned the car the next day.  I forget how we got him to agree to do that....But thank you Jamie!  I probably haven't seen him in 19 years.  But  who can blame him?

This little story should give you some insight into the messes I can get into and the friends who love me anyway.... And if you were to ever meet Cynthia, she would delight  in telling you the story of the "Pot Roast Panties"!  It's a classic!

In closing tonight, let me recap.  I haven't made the Butterfinger cake yet (and after telling this story, maybe I shouldn't.)  I'll let you know if I do, and most  importantly.....NEVER, EVER order a Butterfinger milkshake....no matter how good it sounds.

Good night everybody!  J

Could I be a writer?

September 17, 2012

Good afternoon!  First let me say "Happy Birthday" to my brother Steve, even though he'll probably never see this.  Happy Birthday just the same!

Last night when I went to bed, I lay awake thinking about why I started this blog.  It's not just because I love Pinterest (which I do), but more importantly, it may fulfill a dream of mine.  For those of you that know me, you know I was a pretty sick little kid with a heart condition.  I was in and out of Children's Hospital ALOT.
When I was maybe 9 years old, I got a little plastic typewriter as a gift. It was my intention then (at 9) to write a book.  I remember I practiced typing on it.  My sister interview  me using the typewriter. ( I still have that somewhere)  But I also remember that I had written a full 1/2 page of genius 9 year old thoughts that would become the beginning of my book.  Sadly, I do not have that and would give almost anything if I could read it again.  The typewriter has long since been gone, but my desire to write never really did.  I have always been fascinated with notebooks, journals and pens.  When I say that I love school supplies, believe me it is an understatement!

Anyway, last night I was excited about the possibility or writing.  Starting a journey, if you will.  I will probably write about life, my family and friends, recipes, crafts and general observations.  I will probably mention friends by name (first name only)  I hope that is o.k.  Maybe no one will ever read it.  Maybe they will.  I hope you come along with me on my journey.  Feel free to come with  me and comment when  you feel the need.  In the meantime, have a great night!

Hello fellow Pinterest addicts!  This is my first  post.  I am a single mom who loves crafts and baking.  About a year ago, a friend of mine at work told me that I should check out this website called Pinterest! Thank you Nicole! To say that I was hooked immediately is an understatement!

Photo: Pumpkin Snickerdoodles!I need to tell you that I have never blogged before and I am just learning the in and outs of posting pictures, so please be patient with me.  As I learn more about what I am doing, I'll post photos of things I have created because of Pinterest.  Let me start with today. I made Pumpkin Snickerdoodles thanks to another fellow pinner.  Check out my Pinterest page to find the recipe.  It can be found on my food board.  I love fall.  I love anything pumpkin!   These cookies were really good.  Not too pumpkinny (my word). Not to spicy or sweet.  Great first cookie of fall!

I hope that if you try them, you have great success!  Happy pinning!  And Happy Fall!
